The newest of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe’s
three Minnesota casinos, White Oak Casino
opened in August 2000. The name White Oak
was chosen to commemorate the White Oak
Point Band of Ojibwe who has lived in the
Leech Lake area for centuries.
The logo was designed to reflect the importance of nature in the lives of the Ojibwe people. The floral design represents the Woodland Indians, the people of the woods. The different color leaves represent the changing of the seasons, which is a strong part of the Ojibwe culture that recognizes the changes in life and celebrates new life. The blueberries have a spiritual and ceremonial significance because they are used in a variety of healing ceremonies. The bald eagle of "Migizi" is regarded as a messenger and is a good sign to the Ojibwe people.
This casino symbolizes the self-sufficiency and success of the Ojibwe people.
